Please help fix this issue It’s frustrating. I just want/need simplicity so I can carry on with my day. I try not to use a lot of apps because of this very reason. “Pro” should truly mean the app’s availability to run/function should perform like a PRO. I have to force quit on the entire PC, and RESTART eveything I was doing. I’ve had it happen on first function and then on. Lately, some point the app will freeze and will not even close upon Force Quit. I’ve had this occur several times: I go down the list, click a function, wait for the function to delete it’s command, then move on tho the next. From the developer: Disk Clean Pro helps you remove junk from your Mac. We recommend checking the downloaded files with any free antivirus. The actual developer of this software for Mac is Systweak Software. I’ve used this app (and it’s worked fantastic) for years Then, out of nowhere it’s a pain because the app will ‘freeze’ in the middle of it’s supposed ‘function.’ Disk Clean Pro for Mac lies within System Tools, more precisely System Optimization. I don’t want to be the picky jerk, yet it truly wastes a persons time. I can not close any additional Windows windows while it’s ’stuck' I now have useless software and a little less money. She then told me to have a nice day and hung up. It would not update and she told me I needed to contact support via email to request a license and the update of the software. She then opened and closed a few windows and then went to the Microsoft Store where it indicated the software needed to be updated. She indicated it was necessary to do, but her remainder of her answer was, to me, very suspicious. I asked what that had to do with my issue. She stated it was to determine what programs were installed on the computer. When she came back on the line, I asked what she just ran on the computer. Once she had access, she started a program running and put me on hold. I was told the only way they could resolve the issue was to start a remote session to access my computer. Contacted support and spoke with two people I had difficulty understanding. After some investigation, discovered that Norton Antivirus detected the program as a virus and deleted it. More investigation to do but at least I have Monterey.Īpple: This amount of hassle for an OS upgrade is outrageous.I purchased the software today (October 2nd), and after downloading and installing, discovered the software did not perform any of its functions. I seem to have lost permissions on some of my shared folders from my Windows VM in Parallels (I do have the latest Monterey version of Parallels). Complete the install and Monterey installed.Īny other problems? Yes.I recognised this from the install on original Apple disk. Reboot and hooray black screen with message 29 min remaining.More googling and no useful suggestions found so in desparation reset NVRAM. Again I got the black screen with ? mark, ie no bootable drive. Try first aid on my system disk and reboot.I got the black screen with ? mark, ie no bootable drive. Remove Apple Original disk and replace with OWC SSD.Run the recommended security updates BUT no OS's offered by the Mac update option.Use System recovery to install Yosemite (Ughhh!).Remove my SSD and replace with original Apple disk. Here's how managed to complete the upgrade. Not very helpful! What I discovered after much googling is that the problem was related to a firmware upgrade that can only be applied when the MBP contains an original Apple disk. Well done Apple!!! The most painful upgrade I've ever had with any Apple product. In case if you may require, here are my laptop's details: MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017, Two Thunderbolt 3 ports) Not sure, if this should be an issue at all.Īlso, whenever such a security update or new version upgrade installation starts, my machine generates noise(exhaust fan) continuously, either until the process completes or until I stop the machine. The only thing I missed is, to update the latest security update( macOS Big Sur 11.6.1) and thought to save 2.56 GB download and installation time ) Also, I thought it might have been taken care of by the Monterey upgrade. I've even tried to cancel the installation process once, shut down the Macbook Pro, turned it on, tried installing it again, but the process has stuck again at the same stage as mentioned above. But the installation is stuck at the very last phase, which states "About a minute remaining" for more than 3 to 4 hours as I write(and it continues.) Please refer to the screengrab mentioned below. I'm trying to upgrade to macOS Monterey from macOS Big Sur Version:11.6 (20G165).
